Space does not have a tangible quality. Physical boundaries that are visually perceptible to the viewer ‘contain’ the spirit of space. The energy, the essence, of this space is then perceived by the viewer’s intellect. The boundaries of space are in effect directions of movement. People are more likely to move through an unobstructed space than through a solid mass. Such movements create vital, positive space, which can continuously expand like a crystalline structure. Space is original. You cannot grasp it, space has to be experienced. It is necessary to respect and appreciate its innocence; innocence is easily spoiled, and can never be recovered.
