Piet Dirkx
Collection: Kleur & Ruimte

The spatial manuscript consists of seven watercolour sketchbooks, which Piet Dirkx has been making and using since 1986. He himself regards them as colour meditation books; they serve as personal sources of inspiration for spaces or paintings. Most of the books he has made over the years have a title, such as ‘The ideal and the rules’, ‘Das nie-angeschaute’, ‘Een klein getal belangwekkende toestanden’ and ‘Débat de folie et d’amour’. The books that comprise the manuscript can be simply opened, but they can also be placed with the pages fanning out. The interaction between the various colour combinations results in countless spatial colour sensations.
