Use of colour is an evolving element in the work of Philippe van Snick. He used to paint with pure colours; nowadays he uses mixed colours. Both modes of painting have been employed in the spatial manuscript. Areas of colour create a suggestion of great spaciousness within a black frame. When the two halves of the manuscript are juxtaposed in different ways, it becomes clear how the colours influence each other’s effect.
