SPERRPFOSTEN
Annette Sense
Artist
Collection: Colour & Space

Everyone who sees Annette Sense’s ‘Sperrpfosten’ initially thinks it is an industrially manufactured product. On closer inspection, however, it is clear that the work has been made by hand and has been coated with industrial varnish. The formal idiom of the red and white work is derived from industrial production processes. The colours of the varnish used comply with official DIN road building norms. Moreover, the work is constructed at actual size. A metal box measuring 44 x 32 x 7 cm, which resembles a traffic island, is the container for the metal ‘Sperrpfosten’. The work can be dismantled and can be packed and kept in the box, just like a box of building blocks.
