Brouwn’s work is always about distance and personal movement in time and space; a theme he has been consistently and soberly portraying since 1971. On the one hand, the emphasis is on the variable and individual size of his own footstep, while on the other hand it is on the universal measurement, laid down in the metric system. In the steps that Stanley Brown has taken for Vedute, he shows that you experience the city by ascertaining your position and then measuring the surrounding places from there.
